Lake Central Girls’ Basketball Battles Through Tough Early Stretch, Falls to 1–3 The Lake Central girls’ basketball team continues to navigate one of the toughest opening schedules in the state, falling to 1–3 overall after two hard-fought contests this week. Lafayette Jeff 54, Lake Central 42 The Indians showed strong energy on both ends of the floor against Lafayette Jeff, keeping the game within reach throughout. Junior standout Alex Myszak delivered an all-around performance, leading LC with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals, while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Penn 48, Lake Central 22 LC faced powerhouse Penn next, and struggled to find rhythm offensively against the Kingsmen’s size and defensive pressure. Jill Beaderstadt paced the Indians with 4 points, while Emma Szany added 4 points and 5 rebounds, giving LC strong minutes in the post. Alex Myszak contributed 3 points and 7 rebounds. Looking Ahead LC will travel to Hanover Central tomorrow and host Bishop Noll Friday. Lake Central Girls’ Wrestling Opens Tourney Season Strong at Highland Invitational The Lake Central girls’ wrestling team kicked off its first invitational of the year at Highland. Seven athletes represented the Indians, with several earning multiple wins and deep runs into the bracket. At 105 pounds, Khloe Cortez put together a competitive day, finishing 1-1 and demonstrating strong early-season form. In the 115-pound division, Genevieve Rogers impressed with two solid victories. Competing at 120 pounds, Victoria Bosio battled her way to the consolation finals. At 125, Peyton Knoll went 0-2 but gained valuable mat experience. Nasira Callaway also wrestled at 125, advancing to the consolation quarterfinals and putting up a strong fight in a competitive bracket. In the upper weights, Caitlin Bice pushed through to the consolation semifinals.. The standout performances came from Jasmyn Spraggins, who delivered an impressive 4-1 record to secure 3rd place overall, and Leany Gold-Hurrins who was the junior varsity champion at 190 pounds.
