***Lake Central Boys Edge Valparaiso in Thriller; Girls Highlighted by Record-Breaking Performance*** The Lake Central boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams opened their DAC schedules on Tuesday night, hosting conference foe Valparaiso in an exciting early-season matchup. The meet showcased competitive races, standout individual performances, and a school-record swim. Boys Win 93–92 Behind Hampton’s Triple Victory In a meet that came down to the final events, the Lake Central boys earned a dramatic 93–92 victory. Senior standout Tim Hampton led the way with an exceptional performance, securing three event wins. Hampton captured the 200-yard Individual Medley, dominated the 100-yard butterfly, and anchored the winning 200-yard freestyle relay. The relay team of Jacob Miczek, Kajus Rudzevicius, Cameron Mosley, and Tim Hampton touched the wall first, sealing the crucial points Lake Central needed for the narrow team win. Adding to the boys’ success, Jacob Miczek earned a strong individual victory of his own in the 100-yard freestyle. Campbell Shines, Breaks School Record for LC Girls On the girls’ side, Valparaiso claimed a 117–59 win, but the night belonged to Lake Central freshman Abigail Campbell, who delivered two outstanding performances. Campbell captured victories in both the 500-yard freestyle and the 200-yard Individual Medley. Campbell broke Michaela Spears school record that stood since 2019. Her swim in the 200 IM was one for the record books—Campbell set a new Lake Central school record with an impressive time of 2:06.10, marking one of the top early-season performances in the region. Looking Ahead Lake Central returns to the pool on Thursday as they host Highland in boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving action. ***Lake Central Rolls Past Rival Munster, 42–12, to Even Season Record*** The Lake Central girls’ basketball team delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Tuesday night, dominating rival Munster 42–12 on the road to improve to 4–4 overall. The victory was fueled by stifling team defense and balanced contributions. The Indians controlled the game from the opening tip, smothering Munster’s offense and never allowing the Mustangs to find a rhythm. LC’s defenders combined for 8 steals and 12 deflections, consistently disrupting passing lanes and generating transition opportunities. Sophomore Emma Myszak turned in a dominant all-around performance, finishing with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Several Indians delivered key performances behind Myszak's standout night: Neila Ogden added 8 points. Diane Jeffries contributed 8 points and 5 rebounds. Emma Szany helped LC win the battle on the boards, hauling in 6 rebounds Jill Beaderstadt added 6 points. Looking Ahead Riding momentum from their dominant rivalry victory, Lake Central returns home on Friday to host Merrillville in a key DAC matchup as they look to climb above .500 for the first time this season. ***Lake Central Opens Season with Dominant 67–34 Victory at Hanover Central*** The Lake Central boys’ basketball team kicked off its 2025–26 campaign in impressive fashion Tuesday night, rolling to a 67–34 road win over neighboring Hanover Central. The Indians set the tone early on both ends of the floor and never looked back as they start the season 1–0. Senior forward Noah Enyeart paced Lake Central with a strong season debut, scoring 17 points. Jakob Billmeyer added 13 points, most coming from the paint. Cooper Kroncke and Evan Geller chipped in 9 points each, giving the Indians a balanced attack. LC’s defensive effort matched its offensive production, as the Indians controlled the tempo, disrupted Hanover’s rhythm, and limited second-chance opportunities. Looking Ahead With a strong opening performance behind them, the Indians return home next week for their first appearance in front of the Lake Effect. LC will host the Gary West Side Cougars on Tuesday, aiming to build on their early-season momentum and move to 2–0.
