Junior Varsity vs Marquette High School (51 - 15) Win Varsity vs Marquette High School (28 - 54) Loss The Lake Central girls' basketball junior varsity played a great game last night defeating the Marquette Catholic Blazers 51-15. The Indians shot it well from deep, shared the basketball, controlled the glass, and played exceptional defense to earn the win. In the varsity match, the Indians celebrated senior night getting off to a quick start with an Allie Huppenthal bucket; however, state ranked #1 in their class Marquette proved to be too much to handle. LC fell to 10-9 overall with the loss. Jill Beaderstadt had a great game pouring in 16 points, snagging 5 boards, and getting 2 steals. Emma Myszak added 8 and Allison Yott 2 to round out the scoring. Emma Szany and Diane Jeffries each had 5 rebounds. The Indians are back in action at Portage on Thursday. SENIOR NIGHT PUBLIC ADDRESS SCRIPT Tonight, prior to the competition, we pause to celebrate something even more meaningful than the scoreboard. Senior Night is a chance to recognize dedication, sacrifice, and the commitment it takes to be a true student-athlete. This evening, we honor five remarkable seniors who have proudly worn this uniform and represented our program, school, and community with dignity. Each of them has balanced the demands of the classroom with the expectations of the court—early mornings, long practices, late nights studying, and countless hours of preparation that often go unseen. These seniors have led by example through their work ethic, resilience, and commitment to their teammates. They have shown what it means to compete with heart, to support one another, and to put team above self. Their impact reaches far beyond points scored or games won—it lives in the culture they helped build and the standard they set for those who will follow. Let’s meet our senior players and managers for the 2025-2026 season. Please welcome our senior manager Chloe Harris.Chloe is accompanied by her mother Linda Murray. This will be her first varsity letter in basketball. Chloe was recently named Lake Central HS student of the month. Next year, Chloe will attend Depaul University and plans to study Public Relations. Her favorite LC sports memory was winning at LaPorte Saturday. Chloe’s advice for her underclass teammates-”School should be your number 1 priority. Time management will be your best friend as you prepare for the real world.” Our next senior this evening is Allie Huppenthal. Allie is accompanied by her mother Jeanine, her father Dan, and her brother Brendan. Allie is a 2-time letterwinner in basketball and 4-time letterwinner in golf. She is a decorated student-athlete: Allie is a scholar athlete and has been named the Golf MVP 3 times in her 4 years. She was all a 4-time All DAC golfer. Next year Allie plans to attend the University of Notre Dame to study mechanical engineering. Her favorite LC sports memory was the trip to Peoria last season. Her advice to her underclass teammates: “Be coachable and give it 100% everyday.” Welcome senior Diane Jeffries. Diane is joined by her mother Melissa, her father William, her brothers Nate and Will, and her sister Mariah. Diane is a two year letterwinner and this season she was named Team Captain. Diane is undecided at this time about her future plans. She lists her favorite LC memory as traveling to tournaments and games with her teammates. Diane’s advice for her underclass teammates--”Don’t forget to have fun and embrace the moment. Our next senior is Alex Myszak. Alex is being escorted by her mother Elaine, her father Jeff, her brother Ethan, and her sisters Amayah and Emma. Alex has earned 4 varsity letters and this year is being recognized as Team Captain. Next year, Alex is attending Indiana University Indianapolis where she will study to become a dentist. Her favorite LC sports memory was the trip to state her sophomore year. Alex’s advice for her underclass teammates-”Enjoy every moment because it goes by fast.” Our final senior this evening is Emma Szany. Emma is welcomed by her mother Kelley and her brothers Caz and Hunter. This season Emma was named Team Captain, and she recently committed to Mount St. Joseph University to play basketball. Emma lists her favorite LC sports memory as going to the summer league tournaments and playing imposter on the bus. Emma’s advice for her teammates-”Don’t let your performance define your value as a person. Basketball is a game of mistakes. Recognize it and move forward.” As we close tonight, we want to say “thank you” to our five seniors for the memories, the leadership, and the pride you’ve brought to this program. You’ve shown what it truly means to be a student-athlete: commitment in the classroom, courage on the court, and character in everything you do. Your impact reaches far beyond wins and losses. To our families, coaches, and fans, thank you for the constant support that made this journey possible. Seniors, this gym will always be your home, and once an Indian, always an Indian.
