Gymnastics Moves to 5-1 in the DAC/Basketball Suffers Road Loss

Gymnastics Defeats Chesterton at Home The Indians weren't their sharpest last night but found a way to prevail over the visiting Chesterton Trojans 102.950-98.100. Lake Central is now 5-1 (2nd place) in the strong Duneland Athletic Conference. The Indians have one DAC match remaining at La Porte before the DAC Championship meet on 2/21 at Chesterton. Yesterday, Gabriella Arroyo turned in a 1st place floor exercise routine; Kailynn Patt was 3rd in the floor exercise. Paat also completed 2nd place efforts in the vault and uneven bars, which allowed her to finish 2nd in the All-Around. Sophia Rodriguez was solid on all events: She finished in 2nd on the balance beam and 3rd on both the vault and uneven bars. Gabrielle Robbins also had a 3rd place performance on the balance beam. LC Suffers Road Loss at East Chicago in Boys' Basketball Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 F LC 14 15 13 12 56 ECC 15 6 21 18 60 The Indians traveled to East Chicago to face the Cardinals last night in a non-conference match-up. The first quarter saw this game go back-and-forth with several lead changes, before LC's strong second quarter effort put the Indians ahead eight at the break. The tide turned in the 3rd quarter as East Chicago was able to tie the game on a buzzer beating 3 heading to the 4th. The Indians started the fourth strongly and led by as many as 6 points in the 4th before falling 60-56. Noah Enyeart turned in a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Christian Martinez had his second consecutive double figure scoring game with 11, and Jakob Billmeyer added 9 for the Indians. LC is now 9-8 overall and has a home date with the Michigan City Wolves this Friday before hosting Hammond Central next Tuesday.
