Volleyball Picks Up 4 Wins and Baseball Beats Cathedral

The boys' volleyball program had a busy, as they raced out to a 4-0 start. The Indians knocked off Crown Point on 3/30 in a difficult, 5-set match. The Indians hosted Munster on 3/31 in their home opener: The Indians played well beating the Mustangs (25-10, 25-15, and 25-17). The JV lost in a tough 3 set match. LC was led by: Teo Olmstead with 10 kills; Christian Czarnik and Danny Smith both had 8 kills; and the highlight of the night went to Brady Cook for his 1000th career assist. The Indians traveled to Chesterton the next night and again won in straight sets. The Indians swept Chesterton 3-0 winning 25-17, 25-22, and 25-22 in another DAC rival match up. JV won in straight sets 2-0. LC was led by: Danny Smith’s 14 kills; Teo Olmstead and Cristian Czarnik each contributed 7 kills; Brady Cook had 23 assists; and Juan Flores had 17 digs The Indians wrapped up their week against Morgan Township winning in straight sets. LC will host Michigan City in DAC volleyball this evening. This will be a varsity only contest. The Indians are 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the DAC. Baseball jumped out to a 2-0 start after defeating Indianapolis Cathedral in Kokomo on Saturday. Marc Passo picked up the win working 4 1/3 innings and fanning 7 Irish hitters. Passo allowed just four hits and pitched around 3 walks. Anthony Sanchez tossed a scoreless 2/3 of an inning for the save. The game was called after 5 complete due to inclement weather. The Indians combined for 5 hits on the day, including a Victor Villegas triple. The full box score is attached. LC will host Valparaiso in the DAC opener on Tuesday.
