Girls' Tennis Aces Calumet and Advances The girls' tennis team defeated the Calumet Warriors in the quarterfinal of the IHSAA Sectional at Highland. They'll advance to play the host Highland Trojans today at 4:00PM in the semifinal. The winner will play the winner of Griffith and Munster for a championship on Thursday. They finished just behind of the winning team from Merrillville. The Indians had 5-1st place finishers and 4-runner-ups. LC will participate in 10 events at Tuesday's IHSAA Portage Regional. Senior Anthony Sanchez earned the win tossing 4 innings allowing just 3 hits. The offense combined for 10 hits. Senior Andrew Brower accounted for 2 of those; Brower also drove in 2. Senior Victor Villegas added a hit and drove in 3 for LC. The Indians and their 17-8 record will host De LaSalle out of Chicago on Friday. Softball Falls 6-2 to Valparaiso LC finished their fantastic regular season (25-2) last night with a loss to Valparaiso. The Indians finished their DAC campaign with a 13-1 record overall. Jada Lewis was the pitcher of record surrendering 3 runs in her 2 innings of work. Maddie Such was tremendous in relief throwing 4 innings and striking out 8, against just 1 hit. Emma Wilkins led the offense for LC, which was limited to 6 hits. Wilkins pounded a HR and had an RBI single. Madi Wainright also added a pair of hits, and Cali Ramirez doubled in the effort. The Indians are now in postseason mode and will prepare for a semi-final battle against Munster next Thursday.
