The girls' track and field had 6 Regional Championship performances at the IHSAA Regional hosted by Portage yesterday evening. The Indians will be well represented at the IHSAA State Finals. LC finished 2nd overall in the field represented by 26 teams. Individual event champions for the Indians included: Macey Thompson 800M (2:15.31); Macey Thompson 1600M (5:00.29); Lana Bruggeman 3200M (10:52.70); 4X800M Relay of Macey Thompson, Chloe Neal, Lana Bruggeman, and Brynn Hayes; Emma Reyes shot put (39'10.75"); and Emma Reyes discus (140'10"). Nasira Callaway also qualified for the state finals with her second place finish in the high jump: Callaway jumped 5'1" to earn her spot. State Finals Information Available Here: https://www.ihsaa.org/sports/girls/track-field/2025-26-tournament?round=state-finals The doubles team of Katie Pepkowski and Lyla Hurey advanced to the IHSAA Sectional finals with a dramatic come-from-behind victory at #1 doubles. Pepkowski and Hurey lost the first set 6-2 to Illiana Christian and rebounded with a second set victory. This set the stage for the winner take all final set. The duo fell behind 2-1 before rallying for a 6-4 victory. They're set to take on the doubles team from Hanover Central today at 4:30 at Crown Point to earn a trip to the Regionals.
