Maddie Such Named Indiana Gatorade Softball Player of the Year Lake Central High School is proud to congratulate junior standout Maddie Such on being named the 2025-26 Indiana MaxPreps Softball Player of the Year, one of the highest honors a high school athlete can receive in their respective sport. The award recognizes the state's top softball player based on athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character both on and off the field. Maddie becomes one of an elite group of student-athletes to earn this distinction and adds another chapter to the rich tradition of Lake Central softball. Throughout the 2026 season, Such established herself as one of the most dominant players in Indiana. As the Indians' ace pitcher, she delivered in the biggest moments, leading Lake Central to the IHSAA State Championship. Maddie's impact extended beyond pitching. At the plate, she was one of Lake Central's most productive offensive weapons, providing timely hitting throughout the season. Her ability to influence the game in every phase made her one of the most complete players in Indiana high school softball. The Player of the Year program is widely regarded as the premier individual honor in high school athletics. Established in 1985 and now in its 41st year, the program recognizes the nation's best student-athletes across 12 sports in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Winners are selected not only for their athletic accomplishments but also for their academic success and commitment to their communities. Past recipients include some of the biggest names in sports, including Cat Osterman, Peyton Manning, LeBron James, Candace Parker, and Allyson Felix. To be named Indiana's Gatorade Softball Player of the Year places Such among the most accomplished athletes in the state and makes her a candidate for the national award.
