Varsity Softball: LC hosted the Crown Point Bulldogs for a game that had serious DAC Championship ramifications. The Bulldogs entered with a record of 10-1 and the Indians had a record of 11-0. This game lived up to the hype as LC beat the Bulldogs in extra innings 2-1. Kate Renschen's 2-strike double over the right fielder's head scored Mackenzie Calinski who led off the inning with a single and then promptly swiped second base. The Indians have a 2-game lead with 2 left to play, which ensures at least a tie and sets their magic number to 1. Lexi Iwema started the scoring with an absolute bomb, her team leading 8th, to center field in the bottom of the 5th. Maddie Such earned the win on the mound in her 3 innings of relief. Crown Point's lone run came on a solo HR off Such in the 7th to tie it. Sofia Calderaro was excellent on the mound tossing 5 scoreless. LC travels to Merrillville today. Girls' T/F DAC Championships: The Indians fell just short of a very talented Valparaiso team last night to finish 2nd overall in the DAC for the second consecutive year. It turned out to be a beautiful night after the athletes and fans and workers suffered through an hour-plus weather delay.
