Lake Central High School

On Saturday, with an 8 AM tee-time, Lake Central will host the IHSAA Girls' Golf Regional at Sandy Pines Golf Club. Ninety golfers will take part in the field (golfer list with their tee-time and grouping attached). The 90 golfers include 15 participating teams from 5 different sectionals, and 15 individuals that were the lowest scores in their respective sectional (on non-qualifying teams). The teams, (top 3 advance), that are chasing the IHSAA Regional crown and a chance to play in the prestigious State Finals at Prairie View include: Chesterton, Crown Point, Knox, La Porte, Lake Central, Logansport, Marquette Catholic, Munster, Penn, Portage, Rensselaer Central, Rochester, South Bend St. Joseph, Trinity School @ Greenlawn, and Valparaiso. In addition to the top 3 teams advancing the top 3 low scoring individuals from non-qualifying teams will move on to the 2-day State Finals on October 4th and 5th (36 holes). 2024 Sectional Team Champs and Medalists: Valparaiso Sectional: Chesterton (353)--Medalist Madison Soffin (Chesterton) (84) Lake Central Sectional: Lake Central (340)--Medalist Margaret Voliva (Andrean) (77)-*won in playoff vs Hannah Ingersoll (Munster) La Porte Sectional: La Porte (397)--Medalist Madison Najar (Marquette Catholic) (89) Penn Sectional: South Bend St. Joseph (350)--Medalist Lucy Dunham (SBSJ) (79) Penn (352) Twin Lakes Sectional: Rochester (327)--Medalist Olivia Bailey (Rochester) (72)-*won in playoff vs Ava Thomas (Rochester) Rensselaer Central (352 In 2023, Penn was the Regional Champion with a 327. Kankakee Valley and Chesterton also advanced to the IHSAA State Finals. Olivia Bailey and Ava Thomas from Rochester finished 1st and 2nd and Penn's Jill Daniels and SBSJ's Marley Dunham tied for 3rd. Bailey, Thomas and Dunham all return for 2024.
