JV/V Softball vs Marist JV-LC 7 Marist 3 V-LC 5 Marist 3 Yesterday evening, Lake Central hosted Illinois power Marist in JV and V softball. Marist entered nationally ranked with a record of 29-1. The Indians came into the game at 24-3. LC fell behind in the first on an unearned run but quickly struck with 5 unanswered runs in the 1st and 2nd innings. The bats cooled from there as the Marist pitcher found a groove. Marist added a pair in the fourth and threatened again in the 7th, but an unbelievable over the should running catch from left fielder Moira Falli ended the threat. Maddie Such was terrific on the mound for LC throwing the complete game and striking out 13 Marist hitters. Such impressively threw 78 of her 108 pitches for strikes. Jessy Del Toro started the scoring with an RBI triple (Kate Renschen scored after her leadoff single). Renschen finished with 2 hits. Taylor Schafer was a perfect 3-3 from the plate and drove in a run. The Indians are now 25-3 and travel to Valparaiso tonight to wrap up DAC play. The JV jumped out to a 7-0 lead through 4 innings of play and held on for a 7-3 victory. Sophia Cembala struck out 11 Redhawk hitters in her complete game win. Ava Musch led the offense with 3 hits and 2 batted in; Reagan Equihua doubled twice and drove in 2; Soleil Snyder double in 2 runs; and Emma Wilkins and Piper Urbanski both added a pair of hits.
