Coach Swartz Earns 500th Win on Senior Night/Boys' Golf Leads the DAC

V/JV Golf vs Portage and La Porte @ Palmira Golf & Country Club Team Scores: LC Varsity - 152 LC JV -154 Portage - 176 LaPorte - 177 LaPorte JV - 196 Portage JV - 231 The Indians JV and Varsity took care of business on their home course last night defeating both the Portage Indians and the La Porte Slicers. LC is now 10-1 on the season in DAC play with a triangular against Valparaiso and Michigan City today and a dual against Crown Point next Tuesday (conference standings are attached). Several individual performed well in the cold, wet conditions last night for Lake Central (see below): Cooper Kroncke was the individual winner last night firing an impressive 35. Individual Scores Varsity: Tyler Morton - 39 Logan Carrol - 37 Evan Swinarski - 41 Cole Sullivan - 38 Matthew Tuley - 38 JV: Tyler Kroczek - 42 Cooper Kroncke - 35 Drew Barkauskas - 39 Yianni Boufis - 45 James Matlon - 38 V Baseball vs Merrillville LC 18 Merrillville 1 On senior night, the Indians pounded out 15 hits and scored 18 runs. LC celebrated 13 senior players and their manager pre-game, and then, celebrated Coach Mike Swartzentruber's 500th win postgame with a player/coach signed commemorative bat (see the attached photo for the PA announcement). The Indians pitched by committee last night with Josh Flores striking out the side in the first; Trevor Kubacki worked the second and third; and freshman Owen Kopercinski made his first varsity appearance and tossed two scoreless. Jake Figg, Dylan Hein, Drew Kosteba, Parker Robinson, and Keegan O'Bryan each had 2 hits. Jacob Zimmerman drove in 3 runs. LC will travel to Merrillville tonight, where a win will solidify a 1st place conference finish. JV (White) Baseball @ Munster LC 29 Munster 8 LC avenged their loss from Tuesday with a 29-8, 5-inning win at Munster. LC exploded for 17 in the fifth. Somehow, the Indians managed 29 runs on 10 hits: LC drew 14 free passes and were hit by 5 pitches. Benny Tobias and Michael Zillenger each had 2 hits and drove in 4. Adrian Claussen added 2 hits. The Indians will close out their season in Indianapolis Saturday for a tournament at Avon.
