Girls' XC Wins the Rudy Skorupa Invitational: Ben Perschon and Macey Thompson Both Take 1st (Full Weekend Round-UP)

JV/V Girls' XC--Rudy Skorupa Invitational JV--2nd place V--1st place This years' varsity invitational at Lake Central had 10 teams in the girls' race and Lake Central won the team championship with a score of 43. The next closes team was Valparaiso, and they finished with 70 points. Macey Thompson was the individual winner. Chloe Neal finished in 2nd place and Lana Bruggeman finished 4th. Aubrey Neal's 12th place finish and Anna Domingo's 24th place rounded out the scoring. Roxann Martinez finished 2nd; Marina Negrete 3rd; Maddie Underwood 7th; Iva Andric 9th; and Izzy Groszek 13th. The boys' team finished in 5th in the 10 team field. Ethen Gonzalez finished in 23rd position and Eli Tyrpin was 24th. Boys' Soccer @ Penn (JV White/JV Blue/Varsity) JV White--LC 0 Penn 1 JV Blue--LC 3 Penn 4 Varsity--LC 3 Penn 0 Lake Central took the whole boys' program to Penn HS on Saturday. The Indians came up just short in both JV matches; however, the varsity team moved its record to 4-0 overall with a 3-0 win over unbeaten and ranked Penn. Aaron Puch got the Indians on the board halfway through the first half with a goal; and George Karabatsos scored the final 2 for the Indians. JV Football--LC 24 Merrillville 18 Varsity Football--LC 7 Grand Rapids Catholic Central 30 The Indians dropped their record to 1-1 overall Friday, falling to Michigan perennial power Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Lucas Embrey's pick 6 and TJ Ohlenkamp's extra point accounted for the scoring. LC will open DAC play Friday at home against Portage (0-2). Girls' JV Volleyball @ Fort Wayne Carroll Congratulations to the LC JV volleyball team for placing 2nd at the Ft Wayne Carroll JV Invite. The Tribe lost in 3 sets to host Carroll in the Championship match.
