Volleyball Keeps Rollin'--Softball Remains Unbeaten--Baseball Loses on Walk-Off

Boys' Volleyball Remains Unbeaten The LC boys' volleyball Program continued its winning streak as they swept Hanover 25-9, 25-10, and 25-14. The JV won in 2 sets. The Indians were led by: Danny Smith’s and Christian Czarnik’s 6 kills; Nolan Dyra’s 5 kills; and Brady Cook and Nelko Draguaki combined 23 assists. Tonight the Indians are hosting Merrillville at 5 pm for junior varsity and varsity matches. Softball Picks Up 2 Road Wins In the varsity game, Sophia Cembala tossed a 5-inning no hitter and struck out 12. The offense pounded out 17 hits, including 7 that went for extra bases. Lexi Iwema and Kaitlyn Streiler each homered in the win. Madi Wainwright, MaKayla Van Vossen, Teagan Tripp, Sofia Beals, and Piper Urbanski each had multiple hits. Beals and Van Vossen drove in 3 runs apiece. LC heads to Pendleton Heights for a classic this weekend. The Indians are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the DAC. Baseball Drops Tough One at Valparaiso The Indians fell to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in the DAC after last night's road game at Valparaiso. LC fell behind 5 runs after one but battled back to take an 11-6 lead into the bottom of the 6th before falling 12-11 to Valparaiso. Marc Passo was the pitcher of record, coming in relief of Ryan Mikolanis. Owen Kopercinski earned a no decision in his start. Keegan O'Bryan, Brayden Walls, and Connor Friesema each add two hits. Friesma drove in 5. Jake Forystek had 3 hits, including 2 triples. LC looks to right the ship at Noblesville on Saturday. The junior varsity team left no doubt in their run-rule shortened 17-2 victory over Valparaiso. The Indians ripped 17 hits, highlighted by a 10 run second inning. Becker, Schultz, Segal, and Zimmerman had multi-hit games: Segal and Zimmerman each homered for LC. Kluga was excellent on the mount allowing just 3 hits in his four innings of work for the win. Smith tossed a strong 5th inning. The freshman team lost a 20-16 game at home. LC mounted a furious comeback scoring 12 runs over the final 3 frames. Bravo, Graziano, and Cherny had multi-hit efforts.
