Juan Flores Becomes LC's 1st Boys' Volleyball Player to Achieve 1000 Career Digs

Girls' T/F Defeats Crown Point on Senior Night The girls' track and field team celebrated 10 seniors yesterday evening with an 80-52 convincing victory over DAC opponent Crown Point. The Indians remain in second place overall in the conference just one point behind Valparaiso. LC will run in the Illiana Christian invitational on Friday and then ready themselves for the DAC Championships next week. Passo surrendered just 2 hits, while fanning 8 and allowing just 1 base-on-balls. The Indians ran their overall record to 10-6 and DAC record to 5-4. LC used a 3 run first inning and never looked back. The Indians had 9 hits and drew 8 walks offensively. Connor Friesma doubled twice, and Brayden Walls and Keegan O'Bryan each had a pair of hits. Jake Forystek drove in 3 runs. The JV went on the road and put a 9-spot on the Red Indians in the first and cruised to a 13-0 win. Riggins Roerdink and Evan Smith combined for a 5-inning no hitter. Roerdink was credited with the win. Hunter Segal led the offensive charge with a homerun and double and 4 RBIs. Ben Berwanger added 3 hits for LC. JV and Varsity Softball Make Quick Work of Chesterton The varsity Indians defeated the Trojans 12-1 to run their overall record to 21-0 and 10-0 in the DAC. The JV Indians won 13-3 to remain unblemished at 13-0. In the varsity contest, Jada Lewis and Colbie Tressel combined for a 4-hitter on the mound. Lewis earned the win. The Indians, per usual, used the long ball to dismantle Chesterton. They hammered four: Madi Wainright (2), Lexi Iwema (2 hits), and Emma Wilkins (3 RBIs) all homered. Tegan Tripp added two hits and scored 3 runs for LC. Zoe Salgado tossed the complete game (5 innings) for the JV to earn the win. Addy Mikolanis had a pair of hits and RBIs and homered in the win. Ava DeNormandie and Makenna Fazio each had 3 hits for LC. Both teams head to Portage today to try to maintain the top spot in the DAC. Boys' Volleyball Clinches the DAC with 3-2 Win Over Valparaiso On senior night LC, fell behind a set early but went on to win in 5 with a dominant 5th set (14-25, 25-21, 25-23, 21-25, and 15-8). Congratulations to Juan Flores who made history by becoming the first boys' volleyball player to achieve 1000 career digs (photo included). The Indians are back-back DAC Champions; they'll look to repeat their undefeated 2025 season on Thursday. The JV won a tough 3 set match 2-1. The Indians were led by Danny Smith’s 14 kills; Teo Olmstead’s 10 kills; Nelko Dragulski’s 10 kills and 26 assists; Keri Conrath’s 10 kills; Brady Cook’s 24 assists; and Juan Flores’ 24 digs. Girls' Tennis Update--Girls' tennis battled Chesterton last night for DAC superiority. The battle of the conference unbeatens was halted by darkness and will be continued next Wednesday. LC and Chesterton are tied at 2 points apiece. Number 3 singles will decide the match and it's tied 4-4 in the decisive 3rd set.
