Softball Continues Climbing Record Books--Baseball Sweeps Portage

Softball Clubs 59th Team HR in 20-1 Victory Lake Central hit 6 homeruns to make it 59 homeruns, as a team, on the season. This puts them at 6th place on the states all time list. New Palestine hit 69 homeruns in 2018, which is the top spot. The Indians are nearing the top 10 in RBIs as well. If the season were to end today, LC would be #2 all time for batting average in a season (.478). At Portage, Maddie Such was the winning pitcher tossing 3 innings and striking out 8. Colbie Tressel threw two strong relief innings. The Indians once again used the long ball to lead them to victory. LC smashed 6 homeruns on the days: Jada Lewis and Sofia Beals each hit 2, and Madi Wainwright and Tegan Tripp added homeruns. The Indians added 23 hits and 8 players had multi-hit evenings. Tripp had 4 hits and drove in 4; MaKayla Van Vossen, Wainwright, Such, and Beals each had 3 hits and drove in 3. LC is 22-0 overall 11-0 in the DAC. In JV action, Addy Mikolanis tossed the complete game gem. Mikolanis struck out 14 and allowed just 1 hit over 7 frames. Parker Reddick had a pair of hits for LC, and she scored a run and drove in another. The JV is now 14-0. LC is back in action Monday against Hanover Central. The JV will host Crown Point and Penn Saturday. Varsity Baseball Completes Sweep of Portage LC's pitching staff delivered its second straight complete game winning effort: Justin Makowski went the distance in the 11-2 victory. He surrendered just four hits. The Indians are starting to click at all levels. They reeled off their 3rd consecutive win against strong opponents. Jake Forystek was the offensive here in this one, adding 4 hits and 5 runs batted in. Forystek homered early in this one. Brayden Walls added three hits and drove in a pair. Parker Robinson also homered. LC will host Morgan Township under the lights tonight. The Indians are now 10-6 overall and 6-4 in the DAC. The JV team also defeated Portage for the sweep: 3-0. They ran their overall record to 13-1-1. Cam Bravo delivered his second consecutive quality start. He tossed 6 innings of 11 strikeout baseball, allowing just 1 hit. Zachary Zimmerman added 3 hits, and Ben Schultz had 2 hits. The JV hosts Harrison this weekend. Girls' Tennis Falls 3-2 to #14 Munster The #20 ranked LC Indians lost on the road to the #14 ranked Munster Mustangs 3-2 on Wednesday. This match set-up a potential sectional championship. LC's record is now 9-2 overall.
