Girls' Tennis Defeats Illiana and Wins JV Invite at Lowell LC defeated Illiana Christian 5-0 to improve to 12-2 overall on the season. The Junior Varsity went to Lowell on Saturday; they were crowned the Lowell Invitational Champions (photo gallery included). #1 Singles: Nora Karr (LC) def Sienna Eenigenburg (IC) 6-0, 6-0 #2 Singles: Sai Chodavarapu (LC) def Ella DeJong (IC) 6-0, 6-1 #3 Singles: Katie Pepkowski (9) def Autumn Polak (IC) 6-3, 6-3 #1 Doubles: Andie Schultz / Lyla Hurey (LC) def Sophie Plank / Anya Lindemulder (IC) 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) #2 Doubles: Tessa Murzyn / Mazy Redhead (LC) def Maddy Van Beek / Madi Schurman (IC) 6-2, 6-1 Varsity Baseball Defeats Warsaw/JV Baseball Splits Against Harrison The varsity baseball team hosted the Warsaw Tigers on Saturday. The game remained tight until the bottom of the 4th: LC used a 9-run inning to end this one at 13-0 through 4 1/2 innings played. Josh Sautter earned another win for the Indians as he threw 4 innings of 3-hit baseball. Ben Balog worked a 1-hit final frame. LC used 13 hits (12 singles) and drew 5 walks for the offensive explosion. Brayden Walls, Jake Forystek, and Hunter Segal each had multi-hit games. Walls drove in 3 runs, and Keegan O'Bryan scored 3 times. The Indians are now 13-6 overall and have a 5 game winning streak. The JV Blue Indians split the twin bill with Lafayette Harrison. They won the first game 11-6 and were defeated in the second game 17-11. Mateo Kluga earned the game 1 win. LC added 6 extra base hits in this one. In game 2, an 11 run 5th by the visitors ended this one early. Neven Yych was the pitcher of record. LC had 11 team hits (4 for extra bases). The JV Blue is 15-2-1 on the season. Both teams will host Crown Point today and travel to Crown Point tomorrow. Varsity Softball Moves to 23-0 on Senior Night/JV Drops a Pair on Saturday LC defeated Hanover Central 7-3 last night as the Indians celebrated senior night. Maddie Such tossed a complete game and fanned 9 Hanover batters. Madi Wainright was 3-3 on the game: She added a double and 2 RBIs. Such helped her own cause with 2 hits and 2 batted in. Piper Urbanski added a pair of singles, and Kaitlyn Streiler scored a pair of runs. The junior varsity hosted Penn and Crown Point on Saturday, and they were defeated in both contests. LC is now 14-2 overall. Addy Mikolanis was the pitcher of record against Penn. The Indians mustered just 5 hits: Ava Richardson had a pair, including a 3B. Against Crown Point, Kensie Johnson was the pitcher of record. Madison Alexander had a quality start; she tossed 6 innings of 4-run ball. She also homered and doubled. Both teams will host the Crown Point Bulldogs this evening. LC and Crown Point are one and two in the DAC standings. JV DAC Results at Valparaiso (5/9) Both the boys and girls track and field junior varsity teams participated in the annual JV DACs at Valparaiso. Both teams had strong showings as they prepared for the postseason which starts this evening for the girls at Crown Point and Thursday for the boys at Valparaiso. Listed below is the top participant for LC in each event (girls listed first). They finished tied with the host school for first place in the 9 team field. Both Lake Central and Illiana Christian scored 156 points. Culver was 3rd with 94.5 points.
