Softball Crowned DAC Champions--Girls' T/F Finishes 2nd in DAC--Baseball Defeats Crown Point and Golf Knocks off Portage

Girls' T/F Races to DAC Champions Last night, the girls' track and field team used a second place finish in the conference meet at Crown Point to finish 2nd overall in the DAC. During the regular season, the Indians finished 5-1-1: This was good enough for second. Valparaiso earned the top regular season spot at 7-0. At DACs last night, Valparaiso finished 4th allowing the Indians to leap frog them (conference meet is worth 2/3). Merrillville finished 3rd in the regular season and won the conference meet, leading them to the top spot. SHE RAN A 10:55.42 TO BREAK THE 22 YEAR OLD RECORD. MACEY THOMPSON IS THE NEW DAC RECORD HOLDER IN THE 1600. SHE RAN A 4:55.82 TO BREAK THE RECORD. Softball Earns Guaranteed Share of DAC Conference With 2 games left to play, the Indians are 12-0 in the DAC. The next best team sits at 10-2. This ensures the Indians at least a share of the top spot. LC will play Merrillville and Valparaiso to wrap-up league play. Their magic number for the outright championship is one. Last night, LC left no doubt in the DAC as they trounced the Bulldogs 9-0. The Indians used a 3-run first inning and 6-run second inning to cruise to victory. Addy Mikolanis was the winning pitcher tossing 4 innings of scoreless relief. Mikolanis entered for Jada Lewis who worked 2 scoreless to start. Sophia Cembala worked a perfect 7th. The Indians had 11 hits. Tegan Tripp led the way with a 3-4 performance; she drove in 2 and scored 2. Sofia Beals homered and drove in 3 for LC. Madi Wainright added a pair of hits. Cali Ramirez and MaKayla Van Vossen contributed with homeruns. LC is 24-0 overall. The JV squandered a 1-0 lead late, and ultimately, they fell 3-2 in a great game. Madison Alexander had an excellent complete game, 5-hit, performance in the loss. LC mustered just 5 total hits. The Indians head to Merrillville this evening. ****HR TRACKER--SOFTBALL CLIMBS TO 4TH ALL TIME AS A TEAM WITH THEIR 62ND HR Baseball Extends Win Streak to 6 with Win Over Crown Point LC hosted the #2 team in Indiana the Crown Point Bulldogs last night. The Indians used 4 different arms to defeat the Bulldogs 4-1 in a 4-hit combined masterpiece. Marc Passo got the ball first working 2 innings, allowing one run. Anthony Sanchez earned the win with his 2 1/3 innings of 1-hit relief. JT Rozanski tossed 1 2/3 innings of no hit baseball, and Owen Kopercinski picked up the save in a scoreless 7th. Runs were at a premium in this one. LC outhit the Bulldogs 7-4. The Indians grinded at-bats against the Bulldogs ace forcing him to throw 95 pitches in just over 4 innings. Connor Friesema had the only 2-hit effort in the game. Brayden Walls added a double for LC. The Indians are 14-6 overall and 7-4 in the DAC. They'll look to draw even with Crown Point in the conference with a road win tonight. The JV Blue fell 7-4 on the road last night. Cam Bravo was the pitcher of record. Adrian Claussen had a pair of the Indians 5 hits. LC is 15-3-1 on the season. Boys' Golf Wins at Home vs Portage The boys' golf team fired a 150 to knock off the visiting Portage Indians. LC's JV shot a 169 to also defeat Portage. LC V--150 JC JV--169 Portage V--216 Logan Carroll and Cole Sullivan shared the top spot with a pair of 35s.
