Volleyball Defeats Hammond Central in Sectional Quarterfinals The boys' volleyball team advanced to Saturday's IHSAA Sectional Semi-Final match-up with a 3-set sweep of the Hammond Central Wolves. The Indians won convincingly: Set 1: 25-8 Set 2: 25-10 Set 3: 25-16 LC will play Illiana Christian at approximately 12:30 at Munster. This is a rematch of the 5-set Sectional Championship from last season. With a victory, the Indians would take on the winner of the morning match between Munster and Bishop Noll. Girls' Tennis Defeats Merrillville The girls' tennis team secured a 2nd place overall finish in the DAC with a 4-1 victory over the Merrillville Pirates. Mateo Kluga was the winning pitcher, tossing the 5-inning run-rule, shortened game. Kluga fanned 5 Mustangs and pitched around 6 hits. He didn't allow an earned run. Hayden Becker and Jayden Carpenter Mansfield each filled up the box score. They both had two hits, including a double, both scored 3 runs, and both drove in 2. LC will host South Bend St. Joe on Monday.
