**Girls' XC Wins the Larry James Invitational: Macey Thompson Individual Champion The girls' cross country team raced in the Larry James Invitational at Sunset Hill Farm County Park on Saturday. The team dominated the race scoring 26 points; the next closest team was Morgan Township with 80 points. Macey Thompson was the individual winner with a time of 18:15.59. Lana Bruggeman was a close 2nd place with a time of 18:19.66, and Chloe Neal finished in 3rd with a time of 18:52.58. Freshman, Willow Bruggeman was impressive as well finishing 8th in 19:35.31. Other top 20 racers included: Aubrey Neal 12th, Isla Eggering 18th, and Sara Filippo 19th. The Indians also had 3 top finisher in the JV race: Somaya Shah 2nd, Eva Gonzalez 6th, and Emma Friesema 7th. The Indians finished in 4th place overall with 101 points. The Northridge Raiders were the team champions. Lucca Neves was the individual champion in a time of 15:46.33. Vincenzo Pomilia finished in 17th in 17:22.51, and Trevor MacFarlane finished in 26th place to help the Indians. Lucas Degenais was the JV individual champion and AJ Smith finished in 3rd in the JV race. Both teams will be back in action this weekend as LC hosts the Rudy Skorupa Invitational. RACE RESULTS: https://runsignup.com/Race/Results/169559/TeamResults#set:52608 **Boys' Soccer Falls to SBSJ After missing the first two matches of the season because of weather, the Indians opened their season against South Bend St. Joseph on Saturday. LC started this one off with a quick goal as Braden Mitchell scored off of a corner kick, set-piece. Ethan Tarry assisted the lone goal for LC. The Indians dropped this contest by a score of 3-1. The JV team finished in a tie (0-0) to open their season. The boys will open DAC play against Crown Point on Wednesday. **Girls' Soccer Finishes 1-1 at SBSJ The lady Indians soccer team opened their season at the South Bend St. Joe Invitational, where they finished 1-1 on the weekend. LC won their opener on Friday against South Bend Adams by a score of 1-0. Liana Navarro fired in the game-winning goal. On Saturday, the Indians fell to Mishawaka Marian by a score of 3-0. LC will open DAC play at LC on Thursday against Crown Point. **Volleyball Beats Andrean and Goes 1-3 in the Penn Invitational LC traveled to Andrean on Thursday and earned 3 program wins. The varsity prevailed 3-0; The JV and freshman both won 2-1. The Indians were led by Kailey Skurka’s 19 kills, Alina Williams’ 11 kills and 5 aces, Sloan Degnan’s 23 assist, Kenley Lalich’s 15 assists, and Mariah Dattulo’s 10 digs. S1 S2 LC 18 22 LN 25 25 Penn 27 25 LC 25 20 LC 16 15 Carroll 25 25 NorthWood 18 24 LC 25 26 **Football Drops Heartbreaker in Home Opener LC led for a majority of the contest (29-14 halftime) and lost on a last second field goal to the Munster Mustangs (37-35). The Indians were led on offense by QB Wes Lalich. Lalich completed 21-29 pass attempts for 301 yards. Eight of those completions were to star-wideout Frankie Verta. Verta had 170 yards in the air and scored twice. Kenny Watson had 25 carries for LC and rushed for 127 yards and a TD. The Indians now 0-1 will host Hanover Central on Friday and celebrate the three Middle Schools.
