**Football Starts DAC Slate 1-0 Lake Central 37 Portage 19 The Indians picked up their first win of the season on the road at Portage on Friday night. LC held a 21-19 halftime advantage and played a great second half to cruise to a 37-19 victory. The Indians held Portage scoreless in the second half. Wes Lalich, QB, threw for 3 touchdowns and 166 yards. Kenny Watson added a pair of touchdowns; Watson rushed for 120 yards on only 16 carries. Will Bolden added 3 catches for 55 yards and two touchdowns. Frankie Verta added 3 catches and a touchdown. Jonquil Sharpe came up with 4 catches for 47 yards, and Jayden Carpenter-Mansfield contributed 3 catches for 33 yards. Matt Tuftedal had 3 bruising runs and accrued 39 yards. Tony Peterson added an interception on defense. The junior varsity Indians remained undefeated with a 42-0 victory on Saturday. The Indians once again hit the road this week as they take on the Crown Point Bulldogs. **Girls' Golf Wins the Warsaw Invite at Stonehedge GC The Lady Indians traveled to Stonehenge Golf Club to compete in the 13 team Warsaw invite on Saturday. LC came home with the trophy shooting a 323. Katlyn Benda shot a 1 under par 70, good for 4th place medalist honors. Piper Urbanski posted her 2nd lowest round of the year, shooting a 78. Maya Parks added an 87 and Alex Schilling an 88 to give the Indians the title. The full results are attached. **Girls' XC Races to Victory...Again The Indians raced in the 16 team Harrison Invitational field and were once again the team champions. LC crushed the field by more than 50 points. The Indians scored 28 points and the next closest team was 79. The Indians were also victorious in the junior varsity race as well. Lana Bruggeman won the varsity race in 18:07.97. Macey Thompson finished in 2nd place with an 18:12.87. Chloe Neal ran an 18:31.78 which was good enough for fourth place overall. Other notables: Willow Bruggeman 9th Sara Filippo 13th Isla Eggering 15th Aubrey Neal 16th In the junior varsity race Marina Negrete was the individual champion; Alexa Neal finished 2nd and Emma Friesema was 4th. Other notables: Somaya Shah 8th Katelyn Smith 13th Ireland Bonilla 20th **Boys' XC Finishes 4th at Harrison Lucca Neves finished 6th place overall in a 20 team loaded boys field at Harrison; Neves crossed the line in 16:05.42. He led LC to a fourth place team finish. Vincenzo Pomilia finished in 25th in 17:15.53 and Trevor MacFarlane finished in 41st in 17:38.08. The boys finished in 4th in the reserve race as well. Lucas Degenais was first to cross the finish line for LC in 17th place; Adrian Sanchez finished in 39th and Colten Cunningham was 43rd. On Friday night, the Indians played nationally ranked Trinity out of Louisville and lost 0-1. Goalkeeper Connor Billmeyer added 10 saves. LC then had a quick turnaround and an early morning game against McCracken County HS. They also fell 0-1 in this one. Billmeyer had 6 saves in this one. LC is now 3-4 overall and will take on Portage this week.
