Varsity Girls' Tennis--Delta Invitational Lake Central headed to the Delta Invitational to play against a loaded field of team. Lake Central finished in 5th place overall. The Indians played 3 matches. LC lost to Fort Wayne Carroll 4-1; The Indians defeated Kokomo 5-0; and Lake Central beat Munice Burris 4-1. They'll play host to Valparaiso tonight in a postponement from last Thursday, and then will host Portage on senior night tomorrow. Varsity Boys' Volleyball--Munster Invitational The boys continued playing great volleyball this weekend finishing 3-1 in the sectional preview invitational at Munster. They're now 21-6 overall. JV (white)/JV (blue)/Varsity Baseball vs Munster and Lincoln Way Central Varsity--LC 2 Munster 5 LC 8 LWC 6 The Indians split against two talented teams this weekend, running their record to 14 wins and 3 losses. On Friday, the Indians lost to Munster 5-2. Zach Nicola was the pitcher of record tossing 5 innings and allowing 5 runs (3 earned). Nicola whiffed 9 Mustangs. Grant Mercer threw a scoreless 6th. The Indians couldn't muster much offensively as they only managed 2 hits: Parker Robinson doubled and Drew Kosteba hit a no-doubter bomb to left center. On Saturday, the offense managed to scored 8 runs on 6 hits, 5 BB, and 3 HBP. Once again, Kosteba highlight the offense with 4 RBIs and his second HR in as many games. Jacob Zimmerman added two hits. Ethan Chapman was the winning pitcher tossing 5 strong. Trevor Kubacki entered in relief and threw 2 innings. The Indians look to stay atop the DAC this week as they take on the Portage Indians. JV (Blue)-The JV Blue Indians defeated the Munster Mustangs on Friday evening 3-0. Marc Passo threw 5.2 dominant innings for the Indians, scattering 2 hits and striking out 5 Mustang hitters. JT Rozanski closed the game out on the mound for the Indians. Isaac Ochoa, Hunter Segal, and Anthony Sanchez all had hits for the Indians. The JV Blue Indians dropped the first game of their double header against the Lincoln-Way Central Knights on Saturday morning 8-2. Logan Barbush and Isaac Ochoa combined to strike out 7 Knight hitters. Isaac Ochoa reached base 3 times for the Indians. Jacob Forystek, Ryan Mikolanis, Ben Balog, and JT Rozanski each had a hit for the Indians. The Indians bounced back in game 2 of their double header against the Lincoln-Way Central Knights to win10-3. Logan Barbush and Hunter Segal each provided a solo homer to spur the Indian offense, while Connor Friesema had 3 hits of his own. Isaac Ochoa reached base 3 more times in game 2, while Brody Yates provided 3 runs for the Indians offense. Justin Makowski threw 6 innings against the Knights, striking out 4 Knight hitters and only walking 2. Ben Balog closed the game out on the mound for the Indians. JV (White)--The Indians lost game 1 to LWC 9-8. Malachi Weinum was the pitcher of record throwing the final 2 innings. Benjamin Tobias led the way with 3 hits. Matt Tuftedal, Adrian Claussen, and Michael Zilinger each had 2 hits. LC rebounded and took game 2 from the Knights 10-2. Josh Sautter went the distance allowing just 2 runs. Weinum led the offense with 4 hits; Claussen and Jaxon Glinski each had 3 hits; and Tuftedal and Tobias added a pair of hits. JV/V Softball vs Lafayette Harrison-- V--LC 14 Harrison 5 The Indians ran their record to 17-2 after an impressive road victory at Lafayette Harrison. Maddie Such was the winning pitcher tossing 4 scoreless in relief. She struck out 7 Raider hitters. After falling behind 5-3 after 4 innings the bats really woke up and the Indians plated 11 runs over the final 3 frames. Taylor Schafer led the offense with 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 RBIs, and she drew 2 walks and homered. Kate Renschen added 3 hits and scored a pair, and MaKayla Van Vossen and Madi Wainright each had a pair of hits. Lexi Iwema crossed the plate 3 times. LC will play at Lowell's new facility today. JV vs Harrison--The Indians are 14-2 after 3 wins over the course of the weekend. On Friday, they beat Harrison 4-1. Sophia Cembala earned the win and Ava DeNormandie got the save. Piper Urbanski, Emma Wilkins, and Cali Ramirez all had a pair of hits, and Wilkins also drove in 2. Against Munster, LC scored 11 runs on 11 hits to beat Munster in the NCC/DAC challenge. Cembala tossed 5 innings of 1-hit ball for the win. Urbanski, Ava Musch, and Kylie Sobucki each had 2 hits. Sobucki scored 3 times and Urbanski had 3 RBIs from the leadoff spot. Against Lowell, LC won 3-0 as they struck early plating 3 in the first. DeNormandie went the distance allowing just 4 hits. Musch and Urbanski tripled in this one.
