Girls' Golf vs Michigan City and Chesterton @ Municipal South Golf Course Varsity: LC 168 Michigan City 261 Varsity: LC 168 Chesterton 181 Junior Varsity: LC 210 Chesterton 261 (LC is now 3-0 in the DAC) Lake Central defeated Chesterton and Michigan City at MC Municipal South (front, par 36) to move to 5-0 in the DAC! The Indians stand alone atop the Duneland Athletic Conference as the only unbeaten. LC still has matches against Valparaiso and Portage and then the DAC Championships to round out conference play. The Junior Varsity shot 210 yesterday. The Indians defeated the Vikings 4-1 yesterday. Joe Devine and Joe Rieger were victorious at #2 and #3 singles. Tony Zervos and Wade Smith won at #1 doubles and Keri Conrath and Camryn Lavery also won at #2 doubles. The Indians travel to Lafayette this weekend for an invitational. Volleyball vs Chesterton Fr--LC 0 Chesterton 2 JV--LC 1 Chesterton 2 V--LC 2 Chesterton 3 The LC volleyball program had a tough night last night. The Tribe lost a to tough Chesterton team in 5 close sets: 25-22, 25-18, 22-25, 22-25, and 13-15. The JV lost in 3 sets, and the freshman lost in 2 sets. The varsity team was led by: Lexi Iwema’s 20 killls and 27 digs Kailey Skurka’s 18 kills and 18 digs Brooklyn Barth’s 24 digs Izzy Steliga’s 29 assist and 18 digs JV/Varsity Girls' Soccer @ Crown Point V--LC 0 Crown Point 1 (OT) The Indians and Bulldogs squared off yesterday evening in a battle of DAC heavyweights. The match-up did not disappoint as the two teams were tied at zero through the 80 minutes of regulation. Crown Point was able to score a goal in the 2-7 minute overtime periods to defeat LC. The Indians are now 1-1 overall in the DAC. LC will regroup with the long weekend before hosting Michigan City Tuesday. Freshman Football @ Merrillville Lake Central 20 Merrillville 18 Lake Central's freshmen football team traveled to Merrillville week 2 and picked up a hard fought victory on the road. The defense was stout all night including denying a game-tying 2 point conversion in the final minute. The defense was led upfront by Connor Donovan, Aiden Siwinski, and Ayden Brown. The offense was led on the ground by RJ Edwards, CJ Edwards, and Jayden Carpenter-Mansfield. CJ Edwards added a rushing touchdown and Jayden Carpenter-Mansfield was responsible for the other two scores. Frankie Taffora completed several passes on the night. Carpenter-Mansfield and Blake Newtoff led the receiving corps for the night. Next week Lake Central will travel to Portage to face off against the Red Indians.
