Fall Sports Update--Postseason play has begun.

Girls' Golf @ Prairie View Golf Club IHSAA State Finals The girls golf team finished up their season at the State finals in Carmel over the weekend placing 15th overall in the State of Indiana. Allie Huppenthal led the Indians both days posting an 83 and an 81. Allie finished 37th out of 112 golfers. Piper Urbanski shot 91 on day 1 and had a solid second round with an 88. Maya Parks shot 7 stokes better from day 1 (101) to day 2 (94) Congrats on a great season girls! The girls' concluded their season with an undefeated dual/triangular season, an unbeaten DAC season, and a second consecutive Regional Championship. Boys' Soccer vs Highland--Sectional Quarterfinal Lake Central opened Sectional play on Monday against Highland. Stelios Tsahas got the Indians on the board at the 9 minute mark in the first half. Braden Mitchell and Aleks Alavanja also added goals in the 3-0 victory. Ethan Tarry, George Karabatsos, and Tsahas had assists for LC. The Indians will play Merrillville in the semi-finals this evening. LC is 11-4-1 overall. The DAC also released its all conference team. The Indians had 5 representatives on the team, including George Karabatsos who was named the conference MVP (the 7th Indian to receive this honor since joining the conference in 2003. Ethan Tarry, Connor Billmeyer, Stelios Tsahas, and Kaden Vickery were also named All-DAC. Girls' Soccer DAC Press Release-- Ella Crowley, Phoebe Fogarty, Zoe Panzica, and Amelia Felus were named All-DAC for the 2025-26 fall season. LC will open postseason play at Munster tomorrow in the sectional semi-final against Hammond Central. Girls' XC DAC Championships @ Kesling Park in La Porte--1st Place The girls cross country team were DAC champions on Saturday with a score of 22. They were led by Macey Thompson who was the overall champion running a time of 17:30. Chloe Neal was runner-up with a time of 18:24, Lana Bruggeman took 3rd with a time of 18:42, Aubrey Neal was 6th with a time of 19:25 and Sara Filippo was 10th with a time of 19:41. All 5 girls were all conference. JV also took first place with a score of 27. They were led by Marina Negrete who was runner up and ran a time of 20:56. Anna Brumm took 3rd with a time of 20:59 and Anna Domingo was 4th with a time of 21:04. Congratulations ladies! Full team results attached. Boys' XC DAC Championships @ Kesling Park in La Porte--4th Place Ben Perschon continued his excellent season with a 2nd place overall finish on Saturday at the DAC Championship. Perschon finished in 15:58 just 11 seconds behind the winner. Sophomore Lucca Neves finished in 3rd place with a time of 16:02. Ethan Gonzalez (27th), Trevor MacFarlane (29th), and Eli Tyrpin (32nd) rounded out the scoring for LC. Both the girls and boys will take a week off before heading to the Highland Sectional on 10/18. Full team results attached. Boys' Tennis @ Crown Point Individual Sectional Ethan Cordova advanced to the Individual Sectional Championships after his excellent performance in the team sectional. Cordova lost 5-7; 6-3; 6-2 in a three hour and 10 minute match. Every game in the last set went Deuce. Varsity Football @ Chesterton Lake Central fell 27-6 in this one. The game was a lot closer than the score as the Indians lost two fumbles heading into the endzone; one of which went for 6 points the other way. Wes Lalich shined at QB completing 8/11 passes for 107 yards. Jayden Mansfield-Carpenter caught 4 passes for 43 yards, and he also connected with Frankie Verta for a 76 yard touchdown pass on a trick play. Verta reeled in 5 receptions for 147 yards and a TD. Logan Wroughton also caughed 3 passes for 59 yards. Christian Reed carried the ball 15 times for 63 yards. The Indians will host Merrillville this Friday on senior night.
